EcoHome Spray Foam

April 17, 2024 by itlp

Attic insulation is a composite material made of two chemicals (isocyanate and polyol resin) that meet in the tip of a spray gun. When sprayed onto a home it expands to 100x its original size and creates an air and vapor barrier. The closed-cell structure of spray foam stops heat loss through conduction and also prevents the growth of mold and mildew. It is especially effective in areas where conventional fiber insulation can’t reach, such as rim joists, crawl spaces and overhangs.

Closed-cell spray foam also helps reduce energy costs. Spray foam creates an air seal, allowing it to be used in areas of your home where air leaks are commonly found. Such areas include attics, crawl spaces, rim joists and knee walls. The insulation can be sprayed right into the cracks and crevices of these areas. It is a great choice for those living with asthma as it inhibits the entry of moisture into the home which can trigger attacks.

The Science Behind EcoHome Spray Foam: Understanding Its Eco-Friendly Composition

EcoHome Spray Foam uses low GWP blowing agents in our spray foam products which is better for the environment. Traditional spray foam insulation uses hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) which have a global warming potential 3,400 times higher than CO2. Our HFO based spray foam has a much lower global warming potential.

It’s important to note that if you have spray foam roof insulation and plan to sell or remortgage in the future you should make sure your mortgage broker knows you have this as it can be a significant red flag for some lenders. You can ask your surveyor to check for it when you have a property valued and, if present, flag it with your conveyancer.
